Pork Price Fall to Influence Broiler Consumption

BroilerOn Feb. 27th, 2013, in the major broiler wholesale markets of the 36 medium-and-large sized cities, the average price of fresh chicken meat is RMB15.01Yuan/KG, up 1.53% compared with last week. The purchasing price from farms of broiler chicken was RMB9.53Yuan/KG this week, down 3.05% compared with last week, the chick price was RMB2.76 each, down 15.07% compared with last week. Though chicken demand from canteens of school and factories increased, price fall of pork influenced chicken price. Therefore, it is predicted chicken price shall stabilize with less increase.
 
This week the average wholesale price of live broilers is RMB16.11Yuan/KG in main producing regions, down 3.82% compared with last week. Yellow feather broiler market was in the stage of seasonal adjustment after Spring Festival and it is predicted broiler price shall decrease slightly.  (Figure 4)
