Vegetables Prices in March Slightly Dropped

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-04-03 11:25:22China Agriculture Report Print Since the middle of February, most of the time, the weather was good and the temperature increased a little bit and vegetables growth gradually went back on track and the output increased slightly. At the end of February, the wholesale prices of 38 varieties 20 types of vegetables was 3.02yuan/kg, down by 14.9 from the end of January. The weather continued to turn warm in March and the supply of vegetables increased and prices dropped slightly.
 
By the end of February, the vegetables growing areas of 580 key vegetables counties under the surveillance were 68,700 hectares, and up by 1.5% from the last year. The growing areas of summer squash, scallion, winter melon, garden beans, chili pepper, string beans, eggplant and spinach have increased by 3% from last year. In March, the sunshine and temperature in the major Northern China facility vegetables production areas, Huanan vegetables production region and upper and middle stream of Yangtze River vegetables production region favored vegetables growth and the supply will increase gradually. It is predicated the price will slightly drop.
