Estimates of World Grain Production in 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-08-19 14:26:03China Agriculture Report Print World grain price index was $385/MT in July, down 2.71% from the month before and down 8.88% on the year-on-year basis adjusted for US currency value change.
 
Specifically, wheat, corn and rice prices were $307/MT, $316/MT and $620/MT respectively in July, down 3.14%, 4.7% and 0.48% respectively from the month before and down 10.65%, 12.19% and 4.22% respectively on the year-on-year basis, adjusted for US currency value change.
 
Grain acreage and production are estimated to be 783 million hectares and 2.838 billion MT in 2013, up 1.32% but down 6.96% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
World wheat acreage and production are estimated to be 224 million hectares and 685 million MT, up 0.21% and 5.94% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
World corn acreage and production are estimated to be 177 million hectares and 901 million MT in 2012/2013, up 4.11% but down 0.81% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Corn acreage and production are predicted to be 182 million hectares and 1.02 million MT in 2013/2014, up 2.69% and 13.26% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Paddy acreage is predicted to be 157 million hectares in 2013/2014, a drop of 0.08% on the year-on-year basis. Paddy production is predicted to be 739 million MT, equal to 503 million MT rice, up 2.39% on the year-on-year basis.
 
World grain inventory and safety index are predicted to be 737 million MT and 30.6% at the end of 2012/2013 and 775 million MT and 30.21% at the end of 2013/2014.
