Cotton Imports Expected to Decrease in 2013/2014
By CnAgri2013-08-19 15:31:27 Print According to the customs, China’s cotton imports were 337,800 MT in July, 25.21% more than the month before but 16.76% less than the same period of last year.Cotton imports totaled 4.425 million MT between August of 2012 and July of 2013, a slip of 17.15% on the year-on-year basis.
Cotton production and imports are estimated to be 7.887 million MT and 4.47 million MT respectively in 2012/2013, suggesting a total supply of 12.356 million MT, excluding carryin from the previous year. As cotton inventory is predicted to reach 9.216 million MT at the end of 2012/2013, cotton imports are surmised to shrink to 2.9 million MT in 2013/2014.
