Subsidy for Elite-breed Dairy Cattle in 2013

On 11th July the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the “Guiding Principles on Implementation of Subsidy for Elite-breed Livestock in 2013”. There shall be subsidy to 8.975 million adult dairy cows including Holstein (7.53 million including Jersey), 520,000 dairy buffalos, 515,000 dairy Simmental, 320,000 Brown, 40,000 yak and 50,000 Sanhe. Also, there shall be subsidy on 18,200 yak bulls (in Xinjiang Brown bulls are included), and the one-time subsidy is 2,000 yuan/head. Subsidy rate: except for subsidy for three straws of frozen semen for dairy buffalos, the subsidy is for two straws of frozen semen for other breeds, 15 yuan subsidy for each straw of frozen semen for each adult Holstein cow and 10 yuan subsidy for each straw of frozen semen for other dairy cattle breeds.From “China Dairy Market Monthly Report”
