Fertilizer Production in Jan. ~ Sept. 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-11-01 11:17:45China Agriculture Report Print

China’s fertilizer production registered 55.578 million MT (nutrient, same below) in Jan. ~ Sept., including 38.41 million MT nitrogen, 13.584 million MT phosphorus and 3.54 million MT potassium, up 7.9%, 7.5%, 6.7% and 17.13% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Nitrogen supply features a structural surplus and producers are struggling in difficulty. Domestic urea capacity is predicted to reach 80 million MT/year by the end of this year. Moreover, 18 urea projects, designed with a total capacity 12 million MT/year, are scheduled to wrapped in 2014 and 2015. On the other hand, domestic urea demand of various kinds is predicted to be only 67.3 million MT a year by 2015. Annual urea exports are predicted to be 3 ~ 7 million MT a year in the next few years. Worse, urea capacity is under rapid expansion in other countries, too. Chinese urea producers are expected to face greater competition.
