China Farm Product Imports & Exports in Sept. 2013

According to the customs, China’s farm product imports and exports valued $9.4 billion and $5.45 billion respectively in Sept., giving rise to a deficit of $3.95 billion, down 3%, up 1.9% but down 8.99% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Farm product import value accounted for 3% of the nation’s total import value and farm product export value accounted for 2.9% of the nation’s total export value in Sept.

Of the total imports, grains, tuber crops and soybeans totaled 6.61 million MT, valuing $3.47 billion, down 5% but up 10.3% respectively on the year-on-year basis. They consisted of 1.41 million MT grains, 4.7 million MT soybeans and 500,000 MT others, up 1.44%, down 5.4% and down 16.7% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

The import prices of grains, soybeans and other kinds of grains were $350/MT, $603/MT and $281/MT respectively, up 3.8%, down 7.1% and down 2% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Tapioca import volume and price were 410,000 MT and $253/MT, down 24% but up 2.6% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
