Analysis of Flour Processing Enterprises’ Performance in 2013

Based on data from the NBS and BOABC’s research, flour industry continued stratifying. Many enterprises quited market and some powerful enterprises continued with technology reform. Total capacity kept expanding.

In 2013, the amounts of enterprises with annual revenue of over 20 million yuan totaled 2284, increasing 50 year on year and medium and the amounts of small enterprises declined 850 to 4650. Total industry capacity registered 239 million MT, of which, the capacity of enterprises above designated size was 224 million MT and that of medium and small enterprises declined to 14.38 million MT. Average capacity of enterprises above designated size was 277MT and that of medium and small enterprises was 10MT. 

As for flour production, it registered 78.16 million MT in 2013, up 0.51% from 2012, of which, production of of enterprises above designated size was 73.56million MT and that of medium and small enterprises was 4.6 million MT. Based on average capacity, operating rate of flour enterprises was 45.5%, basically the same with 2012. Operating rate of large enterprises reached 46%, down 2.3% and that of small enterprises was 35.7%, highest level in recent years.

  In 2013, grain purchase declined by Sinograin, which brought more fresh air to medium and small enterprises. In large enterprises, raw grain supply was limited as transporting fee clearly increased with a larger scope of purchasing. On the other hand, turnovers of processed grain products were limited by liquidity, which caused operating rate of large enterprises to slide faster than average level of all processing enterprises.
