Import Volume of Top 10 MOP Companies Took up 86% in the Total in 2016

In 2016, there were 74 MOP importers with the total imports of 6.819 million MT (product). The imports of top 10 importers reached 5.619 million MT, accounting for 85.8% of the total.

The companies with a great export volume mainly are MOP producers or large trade companies and their subsidiaries, for example: Sino-Agri, Sinochem Group, CNCCC, Suifenhe Longsheng Economic & Trade Co., Ltd. (the subsidiary of Heilongjiang Beifeng Agricultural Materials Group), as well as trade companies such as Yantai Haigang Internatioanl Logistics Co., Ltd. (the subsidiary of Yantaigang Group), E’lian Haote Tianyu Business Trade Co., Ltd.

Sino-Agri: MOP imports stood at 1.805 million MT, taking up 19.2%. Its existing potash capacity is around half million MT and sylvite reserves (conversion into MOP) are 139 million MT.

Sinochem Group: the imports registered 0.772 million MT, accounting for 11.3%. Sinochem Group’s fertilizer projects are in the charge of its subsidiary Sinofert.

CNCCC: the imports reached 0.762 million MT, making up 11.2%. This company is a wholly owned subsidiary of CNOOC.

Suifenhe Longsheng Economic & Trade Co., Ltd.: the imports stood at 0.645 million MT, taking up 9.5%. This company is a subsidiary of Heilongjiang Beifeng Agricultural Materials Group (its former company Heilongjiang Agricultural Materials), and is specialized in trade with Russia.

Huaken International Trade Co., Ltd.: the imports were 0.598 million MT, taking up 8.8%. This company is a subsidiary of Zhongnongfa Seed Industry Group Co., Ltd. (a holding company of China National Agricultural Development Group), and has the rights to import and do business about fertilizer and many varieties. China National Agricultural Development Group was reorganized in 2004 by China National Fisheries Corp and China Animal Husbandry Group. China National Agricultural Development Group is mainly engaged in deep-fishing, farming and pharmacy, agricultural machinery, pesticide and fertilizer.
