China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2018-09-27 16:20:16China Agriculture Report Print Besides directly impacting pig industry, African swine fever in various regions of China also brings about direct or indirect adverse impact on feed industry, and some enterprises even close down.
On September 20, Heilongjiang Provincial Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center detected African swine fever virus from the "spray-dried pig plasma protein powder" sent by Harbin Heshida Technology Co., Ltd. which is the dealer of the product produced by Hebei Aibuting Protein Feed Manufacturer. Some pig farms and feed distributors have purchased feeds containing related blood products produced by the company, and relevant departments have conducted product tracking.
American research institutes said that that African swine fever virus can survive in feed ingredients for more than 30 days, meaning that pig plasma protein feed is a potential way for swine fever virus transmission. At present, it is a critical period for domestic epidemic control, pig blood products are prohibited from producing pig feed products, and most feed enterprises or will face transformation or bankruptcy.
