UPL launches rice herbicide 'Saathi' in UP, India

China Agriculture Report By CnAgriChina Agriculture Report Print United Phosphorus Limited (UPL) yesterday launched rice herbicide 'Saathi' in Uttar Pradesh, India,  a major paddy producer in India.

The product would control all types of weeds and cost about Rs 1,000 a acre, increasing the farmers' profit margin, Head (integrated business unit) Bhupen Dubey said. He said the biggest challenge for the paddy farmers was unavailability of labour to remove weeds.

Meanwhile, the company has launched an extensive campaign in UP to make aware paddy farmers about the product. The campaign would cover 21 districts and reach 500 villages, thereby influencing 25,000 opinion leader farmers.

Apart from agro chemicals, UPL offers hybrid seeds of vegetables, rice, maize, sunflower, mustard and fodder.
