Recently, American Agricultural Department announced that in order to practicable the prohibition of clenbuterol, since 13 August, China banned import pork form six pork processing factories and six refrigerated storages.

It is said that these prohibited factories included two factories and one refrigerated storage of Tyson Foods (泰森食品) respectively located in Perry Lowa, Storm Lake, and Logansport, one factory of Hormel Foods (荷美尔食品公司) located in Fremont, Triump Foods (胜利食品) located in St.Joseph, and Quality Pork Processors, Inc (优质猪肉制作公司) located in Austin

Since 2013, China demanded that the imported pork from America must have the third party certification that without ractopamine. This import prohibition indicated that China is stricter on pork import from America. According to BOABC, there are 300 foreign pork processing enterprises had passed the certification of exports to China, among that 65 enterprises belong to America, in other words, about 1/10 enterprises are forbidden. Even though, the pork processing enterprises of US that had passed the certification are still taking the largest number. In the future, with the communication of the two parties, China will gradually revoke the ban for these six factories. What’s more, the pork demand in Japan, South Korea, Canada and Mexico the four main export destination of America is still strong, so that in short – term, this event will not cause serious influence on American pork industry.
