Beckstoffer was among the first wine grape growers to use overhead sprinkler systems for frost protection, plus innovations in trellising and vine spacing.

He is one of the top 20 largest grape growers in California with wine grapes grown on about 1,000 acres in Napa Valley, 1,500 acres in Mendocino, and 1,500 acres in the Red Hills of Lake County.

Beckstroffer is the largest non-winery owner of Napa Valley and North Coast vineyards, and the largest seller of premium wine grapes in the Napa and North Coast areas. He provides grapes to more than 100 premium wineries.

Eisele is the fourth recipient of the leader award, created by CAWG to recognize a member whose “record of exceptional leadership has benefited California’s wine industry.”

The award will be presented to the Eisele family.
