India: Sugar Production to Hit 24.6 million Tons
By CnAgri2013-04-03 11:36:17 Print ISMA raised the forecast on sugar production from 24.3 to 24.6 million tons in 2012/13 (till 30th September) thanks to more production in Maharashtra, but still less than the 26 million tons production in 2011/12.The growth of production in India may ease export and the Government may relax the strict control over its sugar industry. The Indian Agricultural Minister recently informed the sugar production shall be 24.5 million tons in 2012/13, but the serious drought in Maharashtra may affect cane growing. Sugar production in 2013/14 shall be similar or slightly less than 2012/13.
