Broiler Price Decreased Influenced by Avian Flu

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-04-07 11:14:10China Agriculture Report Print BroilerOn April 3rd, 2013, in the major broiler wholesale markets of the 36 medium-and-large sized cities, the average price of fresh chicken meat is RMB14.90Yuan/KG, down 0.20% compared with last week. The purchasing price from farms of broiler chicken was RMB8.53Yuan/KG this week, down 3.40% compared with last week, the chick price was RMB0.76 each, down 52.20% compared with last week. Chicken supply increased and the demand was not great in Tomb-sweeping Day. Slaughterhouses lowered the price to purchase chicken. Meanwhile, chicken price declined in Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Liaoning influenced by avian flu. It is predicted chicken meat price shall keep steady with decrease. 
 
This week the average wholesale price of live broilers is RMB15.78Yuan/KG in main producing regions, down 0.88% compared with last week. During Tomb-sweeping Day, broiler supply is adequate but terminal demand sees no increase. With influences of avian flu, broiler price is predicted to keep steady with decrease. (Figure 5)
