Local Food Safety Standards Released

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-04-15 11:13:29China Agriculture Report Print The health supervision department in Shandong province has recently held 2013 Food Safety and Supervision Working Conference, which stated that local safety standards on four categories of homemade food, including home-brewed beer, salt reduced soy sauce, salt reduced pickles and cold dishes, in the province shall be launched this year.

Xinjiang recently has formally implemented Xinjiang’s icy wine local food safety standards, which have made detailed rules on definition, requirements, analysis method, inspection rules, label marking, packaging, transportation, storage and so on.

Shanghai Food and Drug Administration recentlyhas also released Food Safety Local Standard on Preparation of Meat Products and Aquatic Products (draft soliciting comments) to solicit public opinions and regulate Shanghai’s local food markets.

The Quality Administration of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region recently has approved to implement 2 autonomous region local standards including Goods Barcode Livestock Meat Traceability Code and Bar Code Label, and Livestock Radiofrequency Identification Products Electronic Barcode Structure to achieve an all-the-way meat tracking including from production base to retail terminal via processing enterprises, and logistics distribution.

In addition, Shaanxi Province Food and Drug Administration has also issued 2013 Implementation Plan on Catering Service Food Safety Supervision and Sampling Inspection, requiring food and drug supervision departments at all levels to attach great importance to supervision and sampling inspection, and formulate the sampling plan of respective administrative regions scientifically in accordance with the provincial requirements of sampling inspection plan; the food and drug supervision departments at all levels and relevant inspection institutions should exercise strict inspection procedure and carry out sampling inspection to ensure the quality of sampling; The food and drug supervision departments at all levels should give full play to their functions of supervision and sampling inspection, and handle the food safety problems found in sampling inspection process in accordance with the laws and rules.

Moreover, Qingdao will implement food safety red and black list system. On March 21, Qingdao Food Safety Office issued the detailed implementation rules on food safety "red list" and "blacklist" to officially implement the more severe food safety supervision system, according to which, Qingdao will release a "red list” and a "black list" each quarter mainly on food production and catering service enterprises. Among them, the "blacklist" enterprises will "hit a brick wall" everywhere in terms of loan, examination and approval of land use in new projects, while "red list" enterprises shall meet all "green lights" in handling all kind of businesses.
