Farm Product Imports & Exports in February

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-04-15 11:20:19China Agriculture Report Print According to the customs, China’s farm product foreign trade decreased noticeably in February, attributable to Spring Festival holidays.
 
Farm product imports and exports valued $6.49 billion and $4.17 billion respectively in February, down 14.6% but up 4.6% respectively on the year-on-year basis, accounting for 5.2% of the nation’s total import value and 3% of the nation’s total export value respectively. Farm product foreign traded resulted in a deficit of $2.32 billion, down 40.4% on the year-on-year basis.
 
Imports of major grains, soybeans and tuber crops totaled 4.45 million MT in February, valuing $2.28 billion, down 20.7% and 10.6% respectively on the year-on-year basis. The imports consisted of 790,000 MT grains, 2.9 million MT soybeans and 760,000 MT other grains, down 26%, up 24.3% and up 7% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
The import prices of major grains, soybeans and other grains were $347/MT, $617/MT and $284/MT respectively in February. 736,000 MT dried cassava was brought in at a price of $243/MT.
