Dairy Farming Profit Saw Improvement

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-05-07 11:12:30China Agriculture Report Print Designated monitoring results from the General Services of Animal Husbandry of MOA indicate milk price still kept at a high level during the first three weeks of April, 2013. The average raw milk price of the ten main farming provinces stood at 3.43 yuan/kg, slightly up from same period of March or up 4.79% year on year. Dairy farming profit improved due to the minor slide of corn and soymeal price during the same period.

From the perspective of the global market, the low milk price in 2012 seriously hurt the initiatives of dairy farmers and affected the sustainable development of dairy farming. Meanwhile the drought in North America and Oceania affected the growth of feedstuff and the whole dairy farming, as a result affected raw milk supply, but the demand for dairy consumption was still prosperous, hence the milk price rose in Q1 of 2013. Meanwhile the dairy farming profit level improved thanks to the faster growth of milk price than feed price.
