Farm Product Imports & Exports in March

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-05-10 10:43:24China Agriculture Report Print According to the customs, farm product imports went down but exports went steady in March. Farm product import and export value registered $8.86 billion and $5.22 billion respectively in March, down 0.9% but up 0.6% respectively on the year-on-year basis, accounting for 5.2% of the nation’s total import value and 2.9% of the total export value respectively. Farm product foreign trade incurred a deficit of $4.23 billion in March, a slip of 16.4% on the year-on-year basis.
 
Imports of grains, tuber crops and soybeans registered 5.73 million MT in March, valuing $2.97 billion, down 22.6% and 12.4% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Specifically, the imports consisted of 1.01 million MT grains, 3.84 million MT soybeans and 880,000 MT other grains, down 38%, 20.5% and 5.4% respectively. Their import prices registered $377/MT, $616/MT and $284/MT respectively, up 9.4%, up 15.6% but down 12.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
