Cotton Acreage is Estimated to Be 4.901 Million Hectares in 2013
By CnAgri2013-07-17 10:50:25 Print 7.205 million MT cotton produced in 2012 underwent notarized quality verification by July 14, including 2.908 million MT from Xinjiang, 1.562 million MT from Xinjiang State Farm, 741,400 MT from Shandong, 590,200 MT from Hubei, 580,800 MT from Hebei, etc. BOABC estimates that cotton production may be 7.887 million MT in 2012.Cotton acreage is estimated to be 4.901 million hectares in 2013, a reduction of 5.45% from last year, attributable to lower returns from cotton than from grains. Judging by cotton crop condition and average yield in the last five years, BOABC predicts a yield of 1.54 MT/hectare this year. Cotton production may be 7.569 million MT this year, 4.03% less than last year.
