Poultry Meat Imports in January ~ June

Keywords:Poultry Meat Imports
China’s poultry meat imports registered 311,400 MT in the first half of this year, a substantial increase of 61.31% on the year-on-year basis, despite the domestic dull poultry meat market caused by bird flu and “fast-growing chicken” reports.

Of the total imports, 60% came from the USA, 30% from Brazil and 10% from Argentina, Chile, Poland and France.

China imposed a 105.4% anti-dumping tariff on US broilers from 2010 on, squeezing monthly poultry meat imports from the USA below 10,000 MT for two years. In August this year, WTO ruled that China’s sanction was against global business rules. It is presumed that China may lift its sanction next year. The potential inflow of large quantities of US broilers may pose a great attack to both Chinese poultry farms and other poultry meat suppliers in the world.
