Beer Production & Barley Supply in July

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-08-29 11:21:11China Agriculture Report Print According to the National Bureau of Statistics, beer production by medium and large enterprises registered 5.72 million kiloliters in July and 30.952 million MT in January ~ July, up 7.4% and 5.09% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
The promulgated figures showed a beer production increase of 1.23% in July and 3.79% in January ~ July, both on the year-on-year basis.
 
400,000 MT barley was consumed for beer production and 502,000 MT consumed for various uses in July. Barley inventory was 2.268 million MT at the end of July, suggesting a monthly consumption index of 4.51.
 
Barley imports were about 247,000 MT in July and are predicted to be 2.399 million MT in 2013/2014.
 
Year-end barley inventory and safety index in 2013/2014 are predicted to be 838,000 MT and 17.55% respectively.
 
Barley price wholesale 1,914/MT in July and RMB1,929/MT between May of 2012 and July of 2013, down 7.54% and 9.48% respectively on the year-on-year basis, a result of international price decline.
