Weather Summary and Crops Condition

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-08-30 11:18:42China Agriculture Report Print This week (8.23-8.29), rainfall continued spreading towards north and rainfall was noted in large areas of eastern agricultural areas. Drought in most areas was relieved, which offset influences of previous drought. But flood was still going on in NE. Temperature was on the high side in most areas except in NE. In general, the weather condition was good for agricultural production. For details:

1. NE: rainfalls were on the high side with daily precipitation of 1-5mm in most areas. Previous frequent rainfall caused temperature to decline. In northern areas, it was 2-4°C down and minimum temperature was close to 0°C in some areas, influencing rice and corn growth. In general, however, with high temperature and high level of rainfall previously, corn, rice and soybean grew well in NE and the yields will hit new historic high.

2. Xinjiang and Gansu: daily average precipitation registered 0.1-2.5mm, good for agricultural production in irrigation districts.

3. NW and NC: rainfall in northern areas was at high level with daily precipitation of 0.1-2.5mm. High temperature was good for grouting and ripe of grains and growth of pasture grass. Rainfall in the southern areas was on the low side and temperature was high, good for grain growth. Certain drought was noted.

4. Yellow-huai and Yangtze-huai River areas: rainfall was noted, which offset unfavorable influences from previous drought on yield of corn and soybean.

5. Yangtze River areas: in rainy season, rainfall is adequate in SC, good for growth of late rice. In SC and coastal SE areas, both rainfall and temperature were normal, favorable for growth of late rice. In SW, precipitation was on the low side in most areas, good for harvest of spring planting corn and single season rice.

6. Globally: favorable weather condition in northern and central America and Europe promoted global yields of wheat, corn and soybean to reach new high. High level of rainfall in some southeastern Asian areas had impacts on production of dry-land crops, but in general was good for rice production.
