Datagro President stated the global demand for sugar shall continue to grow, the annual demand should increase by 3-4 million tons. If the sugar production in Brazil remains unchanged, the surplus shall shrink. Datagro expects to see 34.18 million tons sugar production in Brazil in 2013/14, similar as the 34.09 million tons in 2012/13 even if the cane processing quantity is 9% larger than in last year. Sugar plants in Brazil prefer ethanol production thanks to its price competitiveness, hence there is growing demand for ethanol in the country.
