According to the National Bureau of Statistics, flour production by medium and large mills registered 10.954 million MT in Aug. Deducting repetitive statistics, BOABC estimates that flour production was about 6.39 million MT in Aug. Taking into account of carryin, flour supply was 7.07 million MT in Aug., a drop of 0.31% on the year-on-year basis.
 
Flour consumption for various uses was estimated to be 6.433 million MT in Aug. Of the total, 6.094 million MT were consumed for food use, including 2.867 million MT consumed by consumers at home, 1.665 million MT by the catering industry and 1.565 million MT by the food industry.
 
Of the flour consumed for food use, 34.21% were consumed by rural households, 26.14% by the catering industry, 24.57% by the food industry and 10.76% by urban households.
 
219,000 MT flour was consumed for feed production and 33,000 MT for industrial uses in Aug.
 
Flour wholesale price was RMB3,073/MT in Aug. and RMB3,086/MT in Jan. ~ Aug., up 9.44% and 9.55% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Flour inventory was 667,000 MT at the end of Aug., slightly less than the month before.
