Food Industry’s Financial Condition in Jan. ~ Sept. 2013

The food industry’s debt ratio was 51.68%. Its quick ratio was 55.17%. The food industry’s liquid assets and total assets increased 17.7% and 19.3% respectively in Sept. on the year-on-year basis, above the nation’s industrial average level of 11.6% and 13.7%.The food industry’s revenue and profit from kernel business were RMB6.631 trillion and RMB402.77 billion respectively in Jan. ~ Sept., accounting for 9% and 9.96% of the nation’s industrial total respectively. The food industry’s tax payment was RMB207.88 billion in the meantime, 6.64% of the nation’s industrial total.
The food industry’s profit ratio was 6.07% in Jan. ~ Sept., 11% more than the nation’s industrial average. The food industry’s ratio of profit + tax payment against its total assets was 12.82%, more than the nation's industrial average by 46%.
The food industry’s liquid asset turnover and total asset turnover were 2.52 times and 1.39 times respectively in Jan. ~ Sept., 37% and 54% more than the nation's industrial average respectively, indicating that food production was quite profitable.
The food industry’s total cost of production was RMB6.333 trillion in Jan. ~ Sept., of which RMB5.641 trillion were the cost of kernel business, accounting for 8.86% and 8.91% of the nation's industrial total respectively. The food industry’s marketing expense, management expense and financial expense added up to RMB489.5 billion, 9.49% of the nation's industrial total. Of its financial expense, RMB46.28 billion were bank loan interests, 5.63% of the nation's industrial total.
The food industry’s marketing expense accounted for 4.27% of its cost of kernel business, 72% more than the nation's industrial average. Its management expense and financial expense accounted for 2.68% and 0.78% of the cost of kernel business, both above the nation's industrial average.
The food industry gained a profit of RMB57.03 billion in Sept., a growth of 17.95% on the year-on-year basis, below the growth rate of the nation's industrial average. The food industry’s profit rate was 6.63% in Sept., slightly more than the month before.
