Pork: On May 21st 2014, in the pork wholesale markets the average price of pig carcass was RMB17.32/KG, up 6.35% compared with last week. For this week, the price of live hog was RMB13.05/KG, up 4.47% compared with last week, the pork price was continuing increase, many enterprises and farmers had not prepared. The vast majority of small and medium slaughtering enterprises mainly depended on slaughtering live hog and selling hot meat, while part of large slaughtering enterprises had already filled the inventory before the price down to the lowest level in April. From the beginning of May to the middle of May when it is a good chance for food enterprises to purchasing raw materials for Dragon Boat Festival. Some industry insiders doubt that this abnormal surge caused by the manipulation of part of large enterprises. The price of piglet also saw an improvement, from 20.56 Yuan/Kg to 26.50 Yuan/Kg, which will not only prevent the weed out progress of sow but also lead to the increase of sow, this condition do harm to the later live hog market.
