Estimates of Rapeseed Imports in 2013

Keywords:Rapeseed Imports
China’ rapeseed imports registered 2.93 million MT in 2012, nearly all of which came from Canada.

Last week, two large state-run companies ordered four to five ships of Australian rapeseeds, which are 2% cheaper than Canadian rapeseeds.

Imported rapeseeds are required to be processed in non-rapeseed-producing regions in China. They are mostly processed in Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian. More than 80% of rapeseeds imports went to these regions last year.

If the government loosens control of rapeseed imports, China’s annual rapeseed imports may exceed 4 million MT in the next few years.
