Chicken Price to Increase Slightly

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-03-26 10:42:48China Agriculture Report Print BroilerOn March 20th, 2013, in the major broiler wholesale markets of the 36 medium-and-large sized cities, the average price of fresh chicken meat is RMB14.99Yuan/KG, up 0.33% compared with last week. The purchasing price from farms of broiler chicken was RMB8.59Yuan/KG this week, up 0.59% compared with last week, the chick price was RMB1.86 each, down 3.12% compared with last week. During early Spring Festival, breeding farmers were not eager to buy chicks. Recently with tight supply and increasing purchasing, chick price went high, which also promoted slaughter price of broiler to go high. It is predicted chicken price shall increase slightly with less fluctuation.
 
This week the average wholesale price of live broilers is RMB15.96Yuan/KG in main producing regions, up 0.38% compared with last week. Broiler consumption went stable recently and broiler price kept stable with slight increase. Price for mid-grade broiler declined slightly to improve sales. While for quality broiler, the price stabilized.  (Figure 6)
