Estimates of Soybean Imports in 2013
By CnAgri2013-04-17 10:46:07 Print According to the customs, China’s soybean imports were 3.84 million MT in March, 32.4% more than the month before but 20.5% less than the same period of last year. Soybean imports totaled 11.49 million MT in the first quarter of this year, a slip of 13.4% on the year-on-year basis.The returns from hog production were -RMB188/head in early April, a drop of RMB244/MT from the month before.
Considering hog farms’ losses and rampant bird flu, soybean imports are predicted to be 4 ~ 4.5 million MT in April, 5.5 ~ 6 million MT in May and RMB6 ~ 6.5 million MT in June. Total soybean imports are predicted to be below 58 million MT this year.
