Cotton Imports in 2012/2013
By CnAgri2013-04-17 10:48:23 Print China’s cotton imports registered 528,800 MT in March, 39.63% more than the month before but 15.3% less than the same period of last year. Cotton imports totaled 1.365 million MT in January ~ March of this year and 3.041 million MT between August of 2012 and March of 2013, down 12.9% and 11.8% respectively on the year-on-year basis, attributable to the domestic bumper harvest in this crop year.In view of the market demand and supply, BOABC predicts that uncombed cotton imports may be 4.006 million MT in 2012/2013. Taking into account of cotton imports of various kinds, BOABC anticipates 4.046 million MT cotton imports in this crop year. Cotton supply, consumption, year-end inventory and safety index are predicted to be 17.713 million MT, 9.464 million MT, 8.249 million MT and 97.2% respectively in 2012/2013.
