Dropping Broiler Price

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-04-19 10:59:59China Agriculture Report Print BroilerOn April 17th, 2013, in the major broiler wholesale markets of the 36 medium-and-large sized cities, the average price of fresh chicken meat is RMB13.83Yuan/KG, down 4.69% compared with last week. The purchasing price from farms of broiler chicken was RMB6.48Yuan/KG this week, down 2.71% compared with last week, the chick price was RMB0.51 each, up 75.86% compared with last week. H7N9 bird flu incident went on this week. After it is found that there were people in Beijing and Henan infected, chicken price in Henan declined dramatically. Chicken consumption reduces considerably around China and stocks are great of all food processing plants, whose willingness to purchase chick also weakens. In BOABC’s opinion, as it is not clear of the developing trend of the bird flu, poultry meat consumption is restrained to a large extent. Therefore, it is predicted chicken price shall go on with the downward trend.  
 
This week the average wholesale price of live broilers is RMB10.00Yuan/KG in main producing regions, down 35.32% compared with last week. The bird flu was not control effectively this week. New infected people were found in Henan and Beijing and trading markets of live poultry were closed consecutively in Shanghai, Hengzhou, Beijing, Henan, Ningxia, Xinjiang and Hebei. Breeding enterprises all declined price to keep sales. It is predicted price for broiler shall go on declining. (Figure 6)
