Broiler Price to Increase Slightly

BroilerOn May 15th, 2013, in the major broiler wholesale markets of the 36 medium-and-large sized cities, the average price of fresh chicken meat is RMB13.62Yuan/KG, up 0.37% compared with last week. The purchasing price from farms of broiler chicken was RMB7.87Yuan/KG this week, down 3.79% compared with last week, the chick price was RMB2.00 each, up 2.56% compared with last week. Negative news about H7N9 bird flu saw reduce recently and publicity about security of chicken increases, chicken consumption condition turned better. With high level of stocks of domestic farmer’s market, dealers and slaughterhouses, it is hard for price of chicken products to go up. It predicted chicken price shall keep stable and increase slowly in some areas.
 
This week the average wholesale price of live broilers is RMB8.02Yuan/KG in main producing regions, up 12.64% compared with last week. Domestic supply of live yellow feather broiler is tight because the live broilers were sent to slaughterhouses for processing in the previous period. Besides, breeding farmers are reluctant to buy chicks. According to BOABC, with resume of live broiler consumption, price for live broiler shall increase slowly with tight supply. (Figure 4)
