World Grain Production in 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-10-29 11:07:24China Agriculture Report Print World grain composite price index was $361/MT in Sept., down 13.19% on the year-on-year basis, adjusted for US currency value change, attributable to grain production increase and US dollar appreciation. World grain price decline may subdue grain acreage and stimulate grain consumption.

World Grain acreage and production are estimated to be 785 million hectares and 2879 million MT this year, up 1.58% and 7.42% respectively over last year.

World wheat acreage and production are estimated to be 218 million hectares and 688 million MT this year, down 1.93% and up 6.57% respectively over last year. Corn acreage and production are estimated to be 183 million hectares and 983 million MT, up 3.83% and 9.61% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Paddy acreage and production are estimated to be 160 million hectares and 734 million MT. In terms of rice production, world rice production is estimated to be 500 million MT, a growth of 1.97% on the year-on-year basis.
 
World grain inventory is predicted to be 852 million MT at the end of 2013/2014, suggesting a safety index of 33.1%.

World wheat inventory is predicted to be 182 million MT at the end of 2013/2014, suggesting a safety index of 26.2%. World Corn inventory is predicted to be 291 million MT at the end of 2013/2014, suggesting a safety index of 30.5%.World Rice inventory is predicted to be 175 million MT at the end of 2013/2014, suggesting a safety index of 35.1%.
