Indonesia: Less Forecast on Sugar Production in the Year due to Weather
By CnAgri2013-11-18 11:40:22 PrintKeywords:Indonesia cane production
The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture stated that sugar production may only be 2.54 million tons in this year, down 6% than the previous forecast because of the humid weather conditions, whereas the previous forecast was 2.71 million tons.
Indonesia is the global largest raw sugar importing country and it mainly imports from Australia, Brazil and Thailand. The import is to meet the rapid growing demand of the food and beverage industry, whereas the domestic cane growers are responsible for meeting the demand of the sugar processing plants and consumers. Indonesia raised raw sugar import forecast by 52% to 3.8 million tons in 2013.
