China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2014-01-26 09:37:22China Agriculture Report Print

According to National Bureau of Statistics, China grain production totaled 601.94 million MR in 2013, increasing 12.36 million MT from 2012 with growth rate of 2.1%. China meat production registered 83.73 million MT in 2013, up 1.8% from 2012, of which, pork production was 54.93 million MT, up 2.8%. Live hog inventory was 474.11 million heads, down 0.4% from 2012; hog for slaughter was 715.57 million heads, up 2.5% from 2012. Egg production registered 28.76 million MR in 2013, up 0.5%. Milk production was 35.31 million MT in 2013, down 5.7%.

BOABC’s Insight: according to National Bureau of Statistics, production of China beef, mutton and poultry meat was 28.8 million MT in 2013, only 20,000MT less than 2012, which is obviously discrepant with the actual supply. In 2013, production of layer feed and broiler feed declined 5.5% and 8.4% respectively YOY, which can truly reflect actual supply of China poultry meat. Besides, China beef cattle and mutton sheep breeding also continued shrinking in 2013.

Growth rate of pork production can actually match with pork feed growth rate. But compared with the 10% or 20% growth rate of pork feed production of Twins Group, Dabeinong, Zhrngbang, Wen’s and Tangrenshen, the data from National Bureau of Statistics and China Feed Industry Association was slightly conservative.
