Some areas of Guangdong completely ban on live poultry trade, and chilled products are the general trend

In early May, Shaoguan and Qingyuan of Guangdong announced a comprehensive ban on live poultry trade, and the scope of working system “concentrated slaughter, cold chain distribution and marketing fresh" is expanding.

(1) Zhenjiang District and Wujiang District in Shaoguan will cancel live poultry slaughtering and live poultry trading from June 1, and implement the working system of “concentrated slaughter, cold chain distribution and marketing fresh" to strengthen market access management of poultry products and regulate poultry slaughtering behavior.

(2) Main urban area of Qingyuan will not sell live poultry any more from Aug.1, and poultry trading in restricted areas will implement the working system of “concentrated slaughter, cold chain distribution and marketing fresh", and citizens in restricted areas only can buy fresh poultry meat.

In recent years, in order to effectively prevent and control H7N9 influenza virus and reduce people’s risk of disease onset, live poultry market would be closed in susceptible seasons successively, more and more cities choose to seasonally suspend business season or completely close market. In order to meet consumers’ demand for meat and poultry products, chilled products adopting the working system of “concentrated slaughter, cold chain distribution and marketing fresh" are increasingly accepted and loved. The advantage of this working system is to guarantee quality safety of poultry products at the greatest degree, and it’s a general trend to vigorously develop chilled products.
