According to Custom data, in 2014 China imported pork and pig offal 1.37 million tons, among that pork imports was 560,000 tons, down by 3.4% MOM. China mainly imported frozen pork. Then again based on monthly import data in 2014, in April pork arrival quantity reached the most of 59,700 tons; while the same figure in February is the least about 34,500 tons. Pork source mainly from America, Germany, Spanish and Demark, and respectively accounted for 20.76%, 18.92%, 16.22% and 11.97% of the total.
 
BOABC thinks that in 2014 China live hog condition continues downward trend and its price still maintains in low level. Therefore advantages of import pork become weaken causing the decline of arrival quantity. The main reason that causes China’s weakness live hog market is the unbalance of supply & demand. With the eliminating of live hog capacity in 2014, in 2015 it is possible for live hog market to recover. BOABC predicted that in 2015 live hog turning point will appear in May and June. Meanwhile, the arrival quantity of pork will also increase.
