MOA Vice Minister Niu Dun meets with Swiss Re Chairman Walter Kielholz

On 21st March, MOA Vice Minister Niu Dun meets with Walter Kielholz,Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Re Group in Beijing. Niu introduced the related policy and information of new government on promoting and accelerating modern agriculture development, and both sides exchanged their views on carrying out bilateral cooperation.

Niu pointed out that at present and in the near future, ”Sannong” issues are and will always be a top priority of our work. We will adhere to the strategy of harmonized development of industrialization, IT application, urbanization and agricultural modernization as well as integration of urban and rural development. China will insist on the path of development with Chinese characteristics, strengthen scientific development, further deepen reform and opening up, and make all efforts to achieve the goal of building a comprehensive well-off society and modernization drive.

Niu put forward the following four fields for future bilateral cooperation:

1.  Strengthen personnel training and build professional capacity of agricultural insurance industry in China;

2.　Enhance technical exchange in solvency study, laws and regulations, internal control system building and etc.;

3.  Extend existing cooperation on reinsurance of fishermen and fishing boats to aquaculture insurance, crop insurance and other fields;

4.　Pay more attention to corporate social responsibility.

Walter Kielholz made a brief introduction to Vice Minister Niu on the latest development strategy of Swiss Re in China and around the world. He fully agreed on Niu’s proposal for future bilateral cooperation, and expressed his willingness to have close cooperation with MOA and make contributions to China’s agricultural development.
