Guangxi Postpones Crushing Start, Sugar Price Supported

The curtain was drawn open for the kicking off of crushing by Nanning Sugar Yangming Plant and COFCO (Tunhe) Beihai Sugar on November 15th. The first to commence crushing was 20 days later than in 16/17 campaign. It is foreseen sugar manufacturing nationwide shall start in mid December. Owing to the delayed start of crushing, there was insufficient supply, and hence sugar price stabilizes around 6,500 yuan/ton, but 1801 contract price surged from 6,300 to over 6,620 yusn/ton within a short period after the sugar conference. Since the peak crushing season shall not arrive until December, but at present it is the peak period for cargo inventory preparation for the Spring Festival, the demand from processing industries is prosperous.
 
Till the end of October 2017, all beet sugar plants had kicked off crushing in 2017/18 campaign, 268,900 tons sugar in total had been produced, and 65,500 tons had been sold.
