Along with the advancing of supply-side reform, the increasing of environmental pressure and the accelerating of eliminating backward capacity, the overall operating rate descended and output went down. According to data from the State Statistics Bureau, 2017 fertilizer output recorded 66.383 million MT (nutrient), down 8.9% year on year. Along with the increasing of pressure from environmental protection, 2018 fertilizer capacity and output both would continue to go down.
(1) In the aspect of urea, influenced by environmental protection, a tight supply of natural gas and relatively good markets of chemical products, the operating rate of urea equipment went down and the output decreased. According to statistics, the average operating rate of urea equipment in 2017 was 59.12%, down 7.69% from 2016; 2017 urea output stood at 27.165 million MT (nutrient), down 9.3% from 2016.

(2) In the field of P-fertilizer, owing to stricter and stricter environmental protection, ardealite treatment has become the key point of environmental protection treatment, which not only pushes up phosphate rock prices, but also cuts down the operating rate of ammonium phosphate equipment, especially serious influences on small and medium-sized companies whose environmental protection measures are substandard. According to data from the State Statistics Bureau, 2017 P-fertilizer output (nutrient) registered 18.021 million MT, down 4.1% from 2016.

In 2018, the pressure from environmental protection would be increasing and backward capacity would be eliminated quickly; and meanwhile, along with the increasing of land transfer areas, the improving of consciousness of scientific fertilization and the developing of high-efficiency products, China’s fertilizer capacity and output would further go down.
