The Plan of Zero Growth in Use of Fertilizer Led to an Obvious Drop in Use of Fertilizer in 2017

Fertilizer output during January-September totaled 50.454 million MT, down 5.2% or 2.56 million MT year on year. 2017 fertilizer output would decrease by more 3 million MT.
 
The main reason for a drop in fertilizer output is the plan of zero growth in use of fertilizer. So far, the coverage rate of technology of formula fertilization by soil testing has exceeded 80%, and formula fertilization has accounted for more 50% of the total use of fertilizer for main grain varieties; organic fertilizer has covered 400 million mu of areas nationwide and green manure planting areas have been upward of 50 million mu; there have been 6 provinces such as Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Hebei, Hubei and Jiangsu where fertilizer consumption has exceeded 3 million MT, of which fertilizer consumption in Hubei, Shandong, Anhui, Hebei and Jiangsu has decreased.
